“Who has the Mulligan tickets?”, “Has anybody seen so-and-so?” Minutes before the first guest arrived for the 4th Jeffrey Jones Scholarship Pro-Am Golf Tournament, situations like this were what had worried the interns after preparing for this event for the past few months.
This chaos was certainly not what they had imagined when the AMCHAM staff asked them during a meeting the night before to close their eyes and visualize the tournament from the beginning to the end. The staff encouraged the interns and demanded composure in order to get ready for the event. With all the preparation and endless overtime effort put into the tournament, these interns were definitely not going to be satisfied with anything less than perfection.
Interns played a crucial role in preparation for the tournament, as Jung Ho Min, a Foundation intern states, “The Task Force Team for the 4th JEFFREY JONES Pro-Am Golf Tournament really worked! The combination of Foundation’s creativity and Marketing’s experience made it possible to create synergy and finally made the tournament a great success. Sitting in dozens of meetings over and over again, we interns were able to share our ideas with the staff and played an important role in planning the tournament.” Yun Pyo Hong, also a Foundation intern added that, “Everything I went through while preparing for the Tournament has been by far the most exciting and invaluable experience of my life. I know it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my fellow interns. I’d like to thank each and every one of them for making this tournament the largest and most successful tournament in the history of AMCHAM.”
Jeong Seo Rhee, a Marketing intern, mentioned that, “The reason the tournament turned out to be such a success was because each and every intern all had the same purpose in mind. We all took pride in the outcome of the event, and we were determined and devoted to make this year’s tournament the best ever.”
Although they went through many difficult times, the end results showed that their hard work had paid off. Guests left with a smile on their face, and most importantly the Partners for the Future Foundation were able to raise a great amount of funds in order to provide more dreams and hope for the future of many students in need.
Personally, I fell truly grateful that I was able to receive a hands-on experience on preparing for such a meaningful event. I know that I will be able to cherish the memories from this experience for a long time.
