The
Race for the Future is a unique fundraising
initiative of the Partners for the Future
Foundation. The employees make voluntary
donations monthly and in return, the
company matches its employee’s donations.
The combined sum is used to provide
necessary support to the unemployed
and their families through the Foundation.
The mission of the program is to encourage
every corporation to participate in
relaying the baton from one to another
to aid the neglected people of our society.
Funds raised through the Race will enable
the Foundation to help those in need
to lead independent lives and build
a promising future.
By
participating in the Race, each corporation
becomes an active leader within the
community, developing relationships,
building a base for further growth,
and enhancing the various programs of
the Race.
When
a company and its employees decide to
become runners in the Race, the employees
make voluntary donations. In return,
the company matches its employees’
donations and the combined sum goes
toward providing necessary support to
the unemployed and their families through
the Foundation. At the start of the
Race, the current Runner relays a baton
with their company logo in a ceremony
to encourage the next corporation to
successfully complete the Race.
Current
Race Runners have agreed that participation
in the Race has contributed to employee
pride and a greater sense of community
within their companies, as employers
and corporations work together to accomplish
a common goal.

Companies
join the Race by first becoming familiar
with the Foundation through a short
one-hour presentation. The Foundation
Chairman (currently Jeffrey D. Jones),
the Foundation staff, and beneficiaries
visit interested corporations to present
information on the programs, exactly
what the Foundation does, and to encourage
employees to become active contributors.
In
order to maximize participation in the
Race for the Future, it is important
that companies attend the presentation
with as many employees as possible,
so that they hear first-hand before
deciding whether to support the Foundation.

When
a company and its employees join the
Race, each employee becomes an Individual
Partner through a monthly contribution
of at least 10,000 won. These funds
are then matched by the company and
delivered to the Foundation.

Funds
raised through the Race for the Future
directly support the various programs
of the Partners for the Future Foundation,
whose mission is to provide assistance
to unemployed people. These programs
focus on the acquisition of practical
job skills rather than temporary financial
aid, enabling people to overcome challenges
on their own. Using a variety of resources,
the Foundation supports organizations
and individuals of all ages in ways
that will help ensure a brighter future
for Korea. The Foundation’s programs
include the Scholarship Program, the
Vocational Training Program, and the
Job Fair.
We
would like to thank all of the corporations
and their employees for their generous
decision to participate in the Race.
